Chris Shiflett

Hi, I'm Chris, a web developer and a founding member of Analog. I live and work in Brooklyn, NY.

Goodbye, OmniTI

At the end of August, I'm leaving OmniTI.

The summary is easy. The explanation is not. A leader's departure is fertile soil for speculation, but hopefully my brief explanation will be enough to satisfy your curiosity. If you want more details, you're welcome to speak with me about it directly.

Like many of my OmniTI colleagues, I'll be in San Jose next week for OSCON.

I'm not going to tell you things are great, but things aren't that bad either. I just have ambitions that cannot be fulfilled at OmniTI, so I have decided to say goodbye.

OmniTI has many strengths, and there is no better company in the world for help with hard problems like scalability and performance, architecture and infrastructure, and data management.

I'm happy to have been a part of OmniTI's success over the past few years, and to have had the opportunity to work with smart, friendly people. I'm especially proud to have played a role in hiring so many of them:

It has been a fun ride, but it's time to move on. New, exciting things await, and I can't wait to tell you about them. To all of my colleagues at OmniTI, so long, and thanks for all the fish!

I'm still unsure how I feel about this; been doing a lot of thinking. One thing I do know: you'll be missed, and it will be sad to have you go.

Chris,

While I'm sure you will be missed at OmniTI, I'm equally sure that whatever you do next will be equally great. It will be hard for me to think of OmniTI without you but all things must change. Their star won't shine any less bright, just a different shade, without you.

Good luck,

I just hear from Ciprian that you're departing, I have to say you being there was one of the reasons I began the engagement with omni so you'll be missed. Wish you the best!
